Tracey Fragments Editors showing their stuff

Here are some photos from the Live Appearance by the Editors of The Tracey Fragments at the Apple Soho Store in New York on opening night of the film.

They shared some insight in how they created the amazing multi-frame effects in the film using Final Cut Pro.

The Tracey Fragments POSTER nominated

The Tracey Fragments poster is nominated in the Best International Print section of the Hollywood Reporter's Key Art Awards (for the best movie posters of the year) - We're nominated against Knocked Up, 3:10 To Yuma, Hostel 2 and Sweeney Todd! Wow.

Poster designers were bpg (awesome) with a lot of involvement from Mark Slone at Alliance and Bruce and myself were involved too. It was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of making the movie.

New York City - Tomorrow's the Day!

The reviews are coming in (The Village Voice says it's "bedazzling!" The New York Observer gives it 3 out of 4 stars and says Ellen Page gives "a virtuoso performance!" Time Out NY is afraid of the amazing split screens but we'll forgive them if they keep our favorite bar a secret!), the popcorn is popping (no worries, they'll pop new popcorn for you on Friday), and somewhere in the Village a small bar is unaware that people are about to stumble out of a movie theater, dazed and amazed, and buy out their entire stock of booze. Yep, Friday is the big day for New York City- THE TRACEY FRAGMENTS hits the big screen, and we'd like you all to be there.

TRACEY opens Friday at the VILLAGE EAST CINEMA at 2nd Avenue and 12th Street. Showtimes are Noon, 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 8:00, 10:10, and 12:05am (12:05 on Friday and Saturday only).

Tickets are available right now at http://www.movietickets.com/house_detail.asp?house_id=166 (you do have to change the date to Friday the 9th). Head over now and pick them up for your friends, family, and loved ones (Sunday is Mother's Day and yes, your mom wants you to take her to meet Tracey) to be sure you all have a seat for the ride.

But wait, just like the infomercials, there's more- as a special bonus, the editors of THE TRACEY FRAGMENTS, Jeremy Munce, Gareth C. Scales, and Matt Hannam will be giving a special talk and demo at the Apple Store in Soho at 7pm on Friday (upstairs in the theatre). Head over and see how three guys sat down, spent a few months in front of their Macs, and used Final Cut Pro to assemble one of the most intricately edited films ever made. There will be plenty of time to check out the demo, meet the editors, spend an hour in a side street with the party accessories of your choice (sure, you cannot drink IN the theater, but you can certainly drink next door to it) and grab a seat at the 10:10pm showing with time to spare- you'll even have enough time to flirt with the person sitting next to you, comfortable in the fact that as soon as the lights come up, you'll have a great movie to talk about. After that, it's up to you. You could try poetry, but don't be cheesy about it.

See you at the movies!

Here come the reviews!

First reviews are in for The Tracey Fragments from NYC:

Village Voice:

"McDonald’s bedazzling multi-frame experiment poeticizes and enhances an otherwise slender story (forgivable at only 77 minutes long), as planes of different sizes and shapes materialize—fading, sliding, distorting, and overlapping to convey the rage and anxiety of damaged adolescence."

New York Observer:

"Ellen Page remains one of the few stellar newcomers who deserves to be seen in anything she chooses to do."
